Linda Brewer Linda Brewer was born on a farm by the Miami River in southern Ohio. She was raised with an odd and varied assortment of animals and people. Linda grew up to love the individuality, humor and expressive nature of animals. Now, in her art, she tries to capture that spark, that moment that they are so human and so familiar to us. She has lived in New Mexico for the past fifteen years with her partner, a native New Mexican, and their dogs, Roz and George and her horse, Corona. Each of her animal sculptures is individually formed with a red tile clay from "the ground up" using a combination of coil, slab and pinch clay techniques. The sculptures are left to dry over a period of 3-7 days, depending on the temperature and humidity. They are then sanded and subsequently painted with multi-layers of underglazes and glaze. They are then fired to Cone 1 for durability. Linda then adorns them with horsehair, wire, feathers, etc. to complete their personality. Brewer shows at galleries around the USA and has won numerous awards locally and nationally. Her work is in private collections worldwide.
